Artist Biography
Born in Tartanya/Adelaide and now residing in Naarm/Melbourne, JC Harris is an abstract artist of mixed Filipino, German, and Australian heritage. Influenced by the legacy of his great-uncle, South Australian landscape artist Anton David Riebe, JC’s practice uses visceral mark-making and high-key colour to navigate intricate psychological and cultural identities.
He has exhibited his work across Meanjin/Brisbane and Naarm/Melbourne, with his first solo show Become Whatever held at Rubicon ARI in 2024, as well as participation in group shows such as Assembly at Jacky Winter Gallery, and the Merri-bek Summer Show at Counihan Gallery.
He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Victorian College of the Arts and a Diploma of Visual Arts from the Southbank Institute of Technology and maintains an active studio practice at J Studios in Fitzroy North.
